My Reset Story

The reason I started the resets is every year I would do a 21 day challenge that involved a commitment to working out daily and eating a clean diet. I felt such a dramatic positive impact from this small but concentrated effort, that it had a larger impact on my lifestyle beyond the 21 day period.

I was listening to a podcast by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the book Eat. Pray. Love. She was talking about how loving ourselves is something we need to work at in a long term and cumulative way. It is actually a muscle that needs to be exercised and developed. She asserted that in order to achieve happiness and balance in life, you need to become your best friend. If you don't love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to love you? When others see how you treat yourself, you are telling them how to treat you.

This really spoke to me. I started telling myself that I loved myself and I could do anything I set my mind to. Positive impacts were noticed immediately.  I expanded my efforts: I started listening to other self-love and self-talk podcasts, reading books on the topic, and surrounding myself with these influences. I felt myself really becoming my own best friend - and I had never felt better.

My transformation gave me the idea of creating a 7-day reset that combined the concentrated effort of a fitness challenge with the concept of exercising our self-love muscle. This is how the first 7-day reset was born, which focuses on Self Talk.
